Stila Written in the stars

This über pretty eye shadow palette called "Written in the stars" is part of the Light Up The Night series, Stila's 2012 Holiday collection. The palette contains 12 shades, all such pretty warm and rich colours, perfect for those neutral looks I love so much. The star/snowflake design of the palette is super cute to look at, but to be honest it is a little bit annoying when actually using the palette. Each slot is really small and too narrow for a regular size shading brush. Thank god for my Real Techniques shading brush that I have come to love, it fits perfectly. But except for my "issue" with the actual design of the palette, I have nothing but good things to say about it, just an all-round great new Stila palette.

I had a hard time getting the swatches to show up properly on camera. On my lid I always use my trusted UD primer potion, so I can't say how they preform without, but with primer they have good pigmentation and good staying power :) But like with most other Stila eye shadows, be awear of the fallout.

Blotting paper & BB cream

Blotting paper is supposedly good for shine and oil control. The paper is meant absorb the excess oil/shine from the face without smudging out your makeup. I have never tried these as I normally have a pressed powder with me to fix the problem. However using a powder does mean adding more product to my face which I really wanted to get away from, so I found these from Paul & Joe. There are a million different brands out there and my reason for picking these were solely based on (low)price :) But hopefully they will do the trick; I can't wait to try them out.

Next up is my Stila Stay All day 10-in-1 HD beauty balm = BB Cream. I wasn't really planning on jumping on the whole BB cream band wagon, but I tried this in a store recently and was pleasantly surprised by the colour and texture. All other BB creams I have looked at all seem to have some scary colour that I do not dare to put on my face! So after finding this one non-intimidating I decided to get it and I have now been using it for about a month and I am really liking it. If you read all the benefits on the packaging it does sound like this is some kind of miracle product, but I wouldn't go that far though. I do really like it, as it hydrates my skin and works as a "primer" for my foundation. After I have started using this I have reduced the amount of foundation I would normally use to about half as this does give a fair amount of coverage on its own. On days when I am not really going for a full-coverage look I just use this with a powder over it and that works really good as well. However it won't fix everything, it doesn't on my in any case, but over all this is a really good product that I will be repurchasing..even if I do still think this whole BB cream fad is a bit overrated :)

New Stila goodies from BeautyBay

The postman just dropped off another package with Stila goodies from BeautyBay :) They had 15% off recently, so I thought I would stock up on some of my favorite Stila products. I got the silk shimmer luxe gloss in Kitten. This is the best lip gloss ever in my book. Aside from the lovely scent of coconut, this gloss has an amazing staying power. It is a great sheer champagne colour with a touch of pink, perfect neutral colour to use on its own or as the finishing touch over a lipstick. I have tried several of the Stila lip products in numerous colours, but I always come back to Kitten and this formula in particular.
The second product I got was the Perfect & Correct foundation in Light, which is one of my top three foundations. The consistency is a bit like a heavy whipped cream, making it really light and goes on very smoothly. It has medium coverage, I find that one layer is enough for me, but like with any foundation you can keep layering till you get the desired coverage. It has good staying power as well and seems to last me all day, I have an oily T-zone so I do set it with a powder.

Stila In the know palette & Harvest set lip glaze

I just got another little package from BeautyBay, this time with all Stila goodies. Stila is by far one ofmy favourite make-up brands and I was really excited about getting this new palette "In the know". What is special about this particular palette is that it contains only matt eye shadows.
Normally most eye shadow palettes will contain maybe 1 or 2 matt shades if any and I really think matt colours can add a lot to a look, so I thought that this would be prefect to have as a great supplement. I think all these colours are absolutely prefect making this such a versatile palette.
The pigmentation is great, but do be aware that there is some fall-out, so just remember to tap the brush for any excess product before applying it to the lid. On top of the 1o eye shadows, the palette aslo include one of the smudge stick waterproof eye liner in halfmoon (a nice grey colour). So to me, this is a real must-have :)

I also got the Stila harvest set lip glaze trio. I love these and have them in several different colours already. In this autumn trio (from left to right) its orchard, spice and vanilla. I am not a big fan of strong/bright colours on my lips, so these are prefect for me. They add just enough colour but are still somewhat transparent. The staying power is great, so it is all about picking the colours you like.

Stila Natural Beauty Eye Shadow Palette

This is one of my favourite palettes from Stila, that I got earlier this year on a trip to London. Stila is unfortunately not available in stores here in DK, but luckily both Beauty Bay and Look Fantastic carry the brand and ship here - for free.
I recently saw that this exact palette became available on BeautyBay.com so I thought I would do a little post on it.

It has a total of 13 colours, 6 matte and 7 shimmering, all very natural looking colours for more subtle and natural looks. This is a great palette for simple everyday looks, prefect for when less is more, but still giving you good options without being "boring".

Here are the swatches for a closer look:
Top row left to right: pink sugar, blush, rosey, toffee, linen and vanilla
Bottom row left to right: sand, hazelnut, caramel, almond, amber, apricot and merlot

I do really love this palette, especially for those days when I just want a quick, natural look. Sand and hazelnut are probably my favourite go-to look from this palette along with amber and apricot. But I have to remeber this palette, because the colours are so natural and soft looking I tend to forget what it can do, which is create simple everyday looks that are still amazing :)

What's in my (gym) make up bag

3 times a week I take a morning class at the local gym, which means that I have to haul all my make up with me, so I thought I would do a little "What's in my make up bag" post.

I use my grey/black Marimekko bag, that is a good size for "traveling".

For my face I use Tromborg Mineral foundation in Vanilla, which I apply with a kabuki brush from Sigma, Garnier's anti-dark circles for under the eyes and then finally the Urban Decay Primer Potion (original)

I use Calvin Klein eye shadow in vanilla cream (as a highlight), my favourite Wet n' Wild trio Walking on Eggshells, Stila eye shadow in Espresso for the outer coner and for my brows and then Tromborg blush in Peach

Lastly I use the Jemma Kidd lipstick in Peach, Benefit mascara Bad gal in Deep Brown, Smashbox liquid liner in Dark Brown, Smashbox eye beam brightner and MAC pencil in Coffee

Here are the brushes I used, most are from Sigma, one is from Elf and the red one is from DK brand Nilens Jord

And yes, that all fits into the bag...a little snug perhaps, but as long as it can still zip up it's all good :)

Mini Beauty Bay Haul

Oh joy...a new package from the good people at BeautyBay.com

You can always be sure that your stuff is packed securely and will get to you in one piece.

Here is what I got, from left to right: Stila One Step Correct, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and St. Tropez SPF 30 Face protection with Tan Enhancer.

The Stila correct is a repeat buy, but the other two are new to me, so am very excited to try them out. I have opened the St.Tropez Face protector just to make sure it has the same lovely scent as the body equivalent does...I am happy to report that it does :)

I love shopping on BeautyBay.com, they have lots of products that aren't available in DK. They offer free shipping which is great and I have always received my stuff on time and in prefect condition.
Do bare in mind that it can take over 2 weeks for the stuff to arrive after it has been shipped, but with free shipping this is something I am more than willing to live with.

Lovely Lip Glaze

Such lovely lip glaze from Stila. From top to bottom: Kitten x2, Piñata and Maraca

Kitten (Stila's "signature" colour) is my absolute favourite - which is why I have more than one I guess. Great champagne/golden pink colour with a bit of sparkle. Oh and did I mention that it has a delicious coconut scent?

Piñata is a lovely sparkly pink with a raspberry scent. Maraca is a sparkle free light pink with a strawberry scent.

All of these products have that somewhat "translucent" lip gloss look to their colour pay off, but I think they leave the pefect amount of colour. They are very high-shine glosses and come in a wide variety of colours, so there should be something for everyone :)

I really love these and think they have a really good staying power through out the day. You will need to reapply obviously, like with (any) other lip products, but I think this holds up better then a lot of others I have tried.
