Mini Beauty Bay Haul

Oh joy...a new package from the good people at BeautyBay.com

You can always be sure that your stuff is packed securely and will get to you in one piece.

Here is what I got, from left to right: Stila One Step Correct, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and St. Tropez SPF 30 Face protection with Tan Enhancer.

The Stila correct is a repeat buy, but the other two are new to me, so am very excited to try them out. I have opened the St.Tropez Face protector just to make sure it has the same lovely scent as the body equivalent does...I am happy to report that it does :)

I love shopping on BeautyBay.com, they have lots of products that aren't available in DK. They offer free shipping which is great and I have always received my stuff on time and in prefect condition.
Do bare in mind that it can take over 2 weeks for the stuff to arrive after it has been shipped, but with free shipping this is something I am more than willing to live with.

Shoes Of The Day - SOTD

These are possibly my favourite black pumps. I got them at TK Maxx in London (that would TJ Maxx to those in the US). The heel hight is about 10cm but with the little platform they are actually comfortable and wearable, which we all know is not always the case with heels. I think black pumps are a must in any wardrobe and one day I hope to own some with a certain red sole, but for now these will do just fine.

The grey trousers are my very first purchase from Gina Tricot. I saw a lovely friend of mine wearing them and I had to have them. The model is called Christel and they also come in a olive/army green, which I will also be getting :) Pin It

Blondes have more fun...with John Frieda

I recently rediscovered John Frieda's Sheer Blonde line that I used to use years ago. I purchased two products, the Go Blonder controlled lightening spray and the 3 Minute colour renew tone-booster.

I am what you call a colour-treated blonde. Naturally I am probably medium to dark blonde, but I get highlights approx. 4 times a year.

I have been using the lightening spray for when my roots start to show. This product goes onto towel dried hair and starts it's magic once heat is applied i.e. hairdreyer or the like, the more heat the lighter the result. This is a spray and easy to use, but this product is only for people who are naturally blonde as it does contain hydrogen peroxide. If you are a brunette looking to bleach your hair this is NOT the product to use.
And for blondes, please remember this is just like any other bleach that you use on your hair. This is not a product to use on a daily basis at all. I use this maybe once every 2 weeks when my roots start to show and I use it only to make the transition less harsh. So just be careful using this stuff as I think overuse could end up damaging the hair. I love this product as I can stretch the visits to my hairdresser just that little bit longer.

The 3 Minute tone-booster is a hair treatment that removes the brassy look (yellowish undertone) that colour treated hair gets after a while. I start using this product about 6+ weeks after I have had my hair coloured and I really think this puts the brightness back into my hair. I could perhaps do without the weird "lavender" smell, but it is such a minor detail when it otherwise does what is says on the bottle.

The treatment also leaves my very fine hair utterly soft and without any volume whatsoever..which I hate :) I look for volume any place I can with my haircare products, so I tend to shy way from stuff that leaves my hair too soft, which is why I use this treatment mostly on the days when I am just staying at home.

The Holy Grail of Travel Hairdryers

Bold statement, but true (in my world) none the less. Travel hairdryers are a pet peeve of mine, as I find that they are NEVER powerful enough. But perhaps I should have known that my favourite hairdryer brand Babyliss would eventually become my saviour :)

This is the Babyliss Pro Bambino Nano Titanium Dryer, it's a powerful little thing at 1200w and I love it. It feels just as powerful is my regular hairdryer and I don't get that feeling of "compromise" just because I'm traveling.

It comes with both a diffuser and a nozzle to suit all hairtypes. It has a long cord approx. 2,5 meter which I think is fantastic with many hotel rooms being logistically challenged in terms of placement of socket and mirror.

I did order this from UK site Beauty Bay and it does come with a UK plug, which cannot be used here in DK without an adapter. I did however just replace the plug with a DK one (unfortunately I wasn't able to find a black one, so had to go with a white).

These (ankle) boots were meant for walking

Got these amazing red ankle boots at this summers sale here in CPH. They are from German brand Tamaris. My first pair of shoes from this brand and so far I am a happy shopper.

I think the deep dark red clolour is just prefect for the AW seasons coming up :)

Summer in a handbag

This is my bag for the summer. I got it a few months ago at H&M and I think it is just perfect for the season. The orange colour is great and I have to say that out of all the handbags I have ever owned this is the one most people have commented on.

The style is super simple, but the colour just makes it stand out and for a bag that I got because I just wanted something cheap for summer, to hold me over as I'm "in between" handbags, this has turned out to be one those purchases that surprised in a good way.

Lovely Lip Glaze

Such lovely lip glaze from Stila. From top to bottom: Kitten x2, Piñata and Maraca

Kitten (Stila's "signature" colour) is my absolute favourite - which is why I have more than one I guess. Great champagne/golden pink colour with a bit of sparkle. Oh and did I mention that it has a delicious coconut scent?

Piñata is a lovely sparkly pink with a raspberry scent. Maraca is a sparkle free light pink with a strawberry scent.

All of these products have that somewhat "translucent" lip gloss look to their colour pay off, but I think they leave the pefect amount of colour. They are very high-shine glosses and come in a wide variety of colours, so there should be something for everyone :)

I really love these and think they have a really good staying power through out the day. You will need to reapply obviously, like with (any) other lip products, but I think this holds up better then a lot of others I have tried.

Shopping for shoes

I love my camel coloured pumps. I got these last year at Primark in London. If you are ever in the English capital, their flagship store on Oxford Street near Marbel Arch is definitely worth a visit - but come early as the line to the changing room gets massive after 10am.

Their stuff is VERY budget friendly, they do basic tank tops and t-shirts for £2. I will say that the quality matches that, BUT don't let it put you off as there are some proper gems to be found! I have been really lucky with their shoes in the past.

Favourite shoes for summer

These are my favourite shoes for summer. I got theses a few years ago from The Office (UK high street store). Lucky for me they ship to DK, because I just had to have these.
They are super cute and people always asked about them...but how can they not? I mean these shoes just put you in a good mood :)

I love...even more!

I previously mentioned the handlotion I got from "I love...", but I completely forgot to mention that I also got their exfoliating shower smoothie in coconut & cream (obviously!).
I love, love, love this product! Forget about the smell, which is just so lovely and coconutty, this leaves my skin so soft and smooth. This is one of the best exfoliating scrubs I have ever tried. Can't believe I only bought one!! Pin It

MUS eye shadows

I recently got 3 eye shadows from Swedish brand Make Up Store. I had never tried any of their products before, but after swatching some of their eye shadows in the store I just had to get them. They have SO many fabulous and stunning colours and I had such a hard time choosing as I wanted them all :)

But I managed to contain myself and boil it down to these three:

From left to right: Powdery Nut, Cashmere & Dramatic

All the swatches are done without primer, just directly on the skin. I think Powdery Nut is a lot more visible than comes across in my pic, but the other two are fairly accurate to how they appear in "real life".

I think all three are nice and pigmented and have good staying power. I have used them a lot and have yet to experience any issues with them fading ect. during the day. So I have been very pleased with my purchase and it is definitely not the last MUS eye shadows I have bought :)

Smashbox

On my recent trip to Sweden I also got two products from Smashbox. I got the Eye Beam double-ended brightener. This double-ended pen is excellent to use as a highlighter under the eyebrow (the thicker end) and for the inner rim or the waterline (thin end). So far I really like it and have been using the thicker end for under my brows every day.

I also got the Limitless liquid liner pen in dark brown. This one I really love! The tip is like a marker and it glides on really well. I am not normally a big fan of liquid liners, mostly because I cannot use them properly, so this one is prefect for me as it is super easy to use. I like the colour payoff and I find that it holds up all day. So this is definitely a new favourite!

Excellent outlet shopping

I have been looking for a short denim jacket for the longest time and was so excited to finally find the perfect one :) It is from DK brand InWear which I love and even better it was on sale!

I bought it at the IC Companies outlet store next to their HQ. It was marked down 30% but they had one day with an additional 50% on everything!! I had seen it earlier in the week but even with the 30% I still though it was just a little to pricy for me. So when I saw on their FB page that they would have an additional 50% I just had to go and get it :)

The outlet store is really good. It has all of the IC Companies brands like Designers Remix, Malene Birger, Part Two, Tiger of Sweden, InWear to name a few.
I find that it's good to follow them on FB as they let you know when they have "new" stock in and when there are extra sales going on. It is well worth a visit as there are some excellent shopping to be done.

I scream, you scream...everybody needs sunscreen

Summer is here...well at least on paper! This past week has been hot and sunny here in CPH, so it has been necessary to bring out the sunscreen.

But I have actually started using it in the spring/summer months, regardless of the weather, in stead of my normal body lotion. That way I am covered in case the sun comes out, but I also just think it makes good sense to keep my skin protected, as it is at risk even on cloudy days.

I have always been a big fan of Vichy Capital Soleil which is without parfume and is paraben free. I use the SPF 30 on mostly the lower part of my body i.e. my stomach, back, legs and feet. I find that it is quickly absorbed into the skin and does an acceptable job of being a moisturiser as well.

On my upper body I have recently started using the St.Tropez SPF 30 with melanobronzer. This is a sunscreen with tan enhancer. According to the tube melanobronzer is a "innovative ingredient that gently stimulates the body's own melanin production to help enhance your tan naturally".

At present I really have no actual tan to speak off, but I will say that I still think it leaves my skin with a tiny "glow" which is partly why I started using it on my arms etc. I also really really love the scent/smell of the product. I am crap at describing smells, but I am normally extremely sensitive too products that are heavely scented and will return/not buy products for that reason alone. But this one I just love! It also works fine as a moisturiser for me.

As I think it is a bit pricy compared to the one from Vichy I try to use it only on the parts of my body that are normally "out" during the warmer times of the year :)

At present I don't use an actual sunscreen product for my face. My daily moisturiser has SPF 15 in it so I have just been using that. However I have just ordered a St. Tropez one specifically for the face also with the tan enhancer, as I've just been so pleased with the one for the body. Excited to see how that works out.

I love...

I do indeed love this "I love...Coconut & Cream" hand lotion. I got this on a recent trip to Sweden and I mostly got it for the lovely smell of coconut :)
But so far I have been pretty pleased with it. It does have glycerin in it, which I tend not to be such a fan of since I find that it never really seems to leave my skin and I end up with this "permanent" slightly greasy layer on my hands. But this one really isn't too bad I feel...perhaps I am just so in love with the smell that I look past the grease..who knows ;) But it does leave my hands really soft and I am fairly sure I would buy it again.

Orange for summer

I have never been a fan of orange, but this all changed when Chanel came out with this lovely lovely must-have nail varnish this summer - Holiday 617. Oh how I adore this colour!
It has made me go a tiny bit orange-overboard and I am now trying to stop buying anymore clothing/shoes/bags/etc in this fab colour..but I'm finding it hard...it's just so preeetty :)
